The 1917 Heritage Grants scheme has been created to celebrate the centenary of the food and drink retailer and distributor A.F. Blakemore & Son. The grants scheme has been set up by the Blakemore Foundation which was established by the Blakemore family in 1992. Since then the Foundation has donated more than £1.7 million to support good causes in the company’s trading area, which stretches across central England and all of Wales.
The funding aims to support good causes in local communities with particular focus on ‘helping the sustainability of charities, organisations and community groups in recognition of the company’s commitment to growing sustainably for the benefit of staff, customers and the community’.
