Be a Trustee of the Green Team: Improving the quality of life for older and disabled people.
The Green Team is a small local charity, based in Goole. They involve volunteers to run a garden maintenance service for local people who are elderly or disabled. They also grow produce on ther allotment which they sell through the Veg Bag scheme.
The charity is governed by a group of trustees who give their time voluntarily to lead the organisation.
Trustees are responsible for overseeing the work of the charity; setting the strategic direction of the charity; ensuring that the charity complies with legal and regulatory requirements; and making sure that the charity’s money and resources are used effectively for the benefit of the people the Green Team help.
Green Team trustees meet every two months to discuss the running of the charity. The day to day work of running the charity is delegated to the staff team, who are employed by the trustees.
Between them, trustees need to have a variety of skills and knowledge, for example, business experience; gardening and horticulture; managing finances; managing people; marketing; health and safety; fundraising; social care services; training; project management
If you can offer any of these, or something else you think would be helpful, you could be ideally placed to become a trustee of the Green Team. It doesn’t matter if you have no experience of being a trustee—training and induction are offered to new trustees.
