Hull Women’s Aid is an independent charity providing support to women and children experiencing domestic abuse. Hull Women’s Aid is a very established and experienced service, having been established in 1975 by a group of women that recognised the need to provide help and support in a secure environment for women and children who are victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
They offer safe accommodation, advice and support for women and children that are fleeing domestic abuse; floating support for women and children that have moved out of refuge accommodation and need ongoing support until they can live safely and independently; outreach support for children and young people up to the age of 25.
They are seeking new Trustees who can help to support their mission and will complement the skills and expertise of the existing Board members. They would particularly welcome women with expertise in law, finance or HR but would like to hear from anyone with a commitment to women’s rights and work in this field.
The commitment involved is attendance at a monthly evening meeting normally held on the last Tuesday of each month, decision making regarding strategic planning, policies and procedures, finance and recruitment and ad hoc contributions. This role does not usually involve any direct volunteering with women and children.
Please contact them for a fuller role description and annual report or to arrange an informal discussion prior to completing the Trustee application form. This role is restricted to Women only under Schedule 9, Part 1 of The Equality Act 2010
