Influencing healthy eating habits through early years settings

Obesity is one of the biggest health problems facing the country. Levels of childhood obesity in England are amongst the highest in the developed world, with almost one in four children being overweight or obese before they start school.

Therefore, reducing childhood obesity is a key Public Health England priority.  Children’s food preferences and eating habits are formed early in life and the time that they spend in early years settings provides an ideal opportunity to shape healthy behaviours.
