Long-stay rehabilitation services

The Centre for Mental Health has published Long-stay rehabilitation services.

This briefing paper finds that a minority of people with severe and complex mental health needs requiring access to rehabilitation services are facing stays of many months in inpatient services because of a lack of community services to help them to recover.

The briefing reviews evidence from the Care Quality Commission inspection reports of inpatient rehabilitation services in England.  It calls on NHS providers and CCGs to ensure they offer local services to people requiring rehabilitation support and they maintain contact with people admitted to hospitals out of their local area.
