Public space protection order – Controlled drinking zones

The current PSPO (public space protection order – controlled drinking zones) expires in October 2017 and are currently asking the public whether they should renew, reduce or end it based on the situation in NEL.

In April 2015 an additional power to restrict anti-social behaviour linked directly to the consumption of alcohol was established across seven wards in North East Lincolnshire:

West Marsh

East Marsh

Sidney Sussex

Croft Baker

The order means that a request can be made to individuals or groups to stop drinking or hand over alcohol if they are involved or likely to become involved in drinking related anti-social behaviour. If they refuse to do so they could be served with a fixed penalty notice of £100. Young people are normally dealt with by specific legislation which falls outside of this order.
