Support Worker with Ashiana (Hull)

Job Title: Support Worker – Combatting Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation

Salary: £18500 – £21000 pa (pro rata)

Hours: 37 per week

Contract type: permanent, subject to funding

Location: Hull with regular travel across region. There will also be occasional national travel required.

The Organisation

Ashiana Sheffield works with Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BAMER) women, children and young people to escape violence and abuse and specialise in those areas of abuse which are most prevalent within BAMER communities such as domestic and sexual abuse, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, human trafficking, gang violence and ‘honour’-based violence. The aim of their work is to increase life opportunities to enable those that are vulnerable to move away from the risk of violence and into safe, stable and happier futures. 

Role Requirements

Ashiana is going through an exciting period of growth and is looking for a full time female support worker to deliver aiming to develop skills, knowledge, responses and services to women who are victims (or potential victims) of modern slavery, human trafficking and sexual exploitation across Yorkshire and Humberside.

The successful candidate will have an understanding and experience of supporting women who have experienced significant trauma as well as the knowledge of the processes involved when supporting women who have been trafficked into the UK for the purposes of sexual exploitation or domestic slavery.

It is essential that the successful candidate has the ability to work on her own initiative and manage her own workload.

You should have excellent IT skills and experience of working with management information systems/processes would be an advantage.

Experience of working with BAMER groups in a professional or voluntary capacity or an evidence of passion for and commitment to support BAMER clients is desirable.

Ashiana supports women trafficked into the UK from many different countries; although not essential, applications from speakers of other languages are desirable.

It is essential that the post holder is flexible, adaptable and able to travel across the region on a regular basis.
