Trustee wanted for Sangwer Aid

Would you personally like to help hundreds of hard-working African families access much-needed water, food, education and healthcare?

This is a great opportunity to extend your skills as you help countless families

Sengwer Aid is a Registered Charity which was established in 2002. This small charity gives aid to Kenyan families from the Sengwer tribe (hunter, gatherer, beekeepers by origin; peaceful and hard-working people who have been evicted from their ancestral lands). Families struggle to survive; Sengwer Aid helps by funding community projects and education bursaries.

They now would like to recruit a new Trustee to focus on writing occasional funding bids so they can support more small-scale community projects, e.g. much-needed hillside water projects, community-built primary and secondary schools, further funds for our modest education bursary project.

Previous bidwriting experience is desirable, e.g. Comic Relief. The time needed for this work is flexible and can be fitted in with other commitments. There will be a proper induction and the opportunity to get to know the charity and understand the needs of the Sengwer community.

You will be supported by one of our Trustees who has considerable bid-writing experience.

There would also be the opportunity to visit projects, if interested. Trustees regularly make visits to Kenya, always paying their own expenses. Every single penny donated gets to the families who need help.

Trustees meet in Hull 3 times a year to make decisions about the best use of the small funds available. Meetings are usually 2 or 3 hours
