North Bank Forum’s Sector Support and Development team are working on a three-year programme to unlock

the potential of the voluntary and community sector and develop its capacity for change.

The programme is funded by Hull City Council as part of their ongoing commitment to support the VCS.

There are several areas of work that the team will undertake –
• Encouraging effective and equitable partnerships between organisations to increase tendering and funding opportunities for the sector

• Looking ahead to changes in the way services are commissioned, procured and delivered to ensure the sector has the best possible opportunities to be involved at every level

• Acting as a signposting service for VCS organisations that want or need to develop their capacity

• Offering an organisational ‘health check’ to examine areas for development and improvement

• Ensuring commissioning teams have an accurate picture of the sector’s strengths and qualities

• Incorporating the highest standards of equality and inclusion in all aspects of work and ensuring that pro-active engagement with groups and organisations is undertaken

• Helping VCS organisations to become more robust and to prepare for the challenges they face by being pro-active in seeking new opportunities

• Sharing best practice across the sector
