UK Older People’s Day 1st October 2010 Celebrating later life
The theme this year for people aged 50 and over is ‘getting and staying active in later life’ and the East Riding and Hull Older People’s Active Life (OPAL) group would like to invite as many organisations, agencies, groups and schools as possible to support the day.
It hopes some of the chosen events will help bring the generations together. Ideas so far include: dancing through the decades, singing and dancing to movement, playground games past and present and intergenerational IT sessions. Organisations already signed up include East Riding Age Concern, who will be hosting a celebration tea dance and Driffield School who will be running IT sessions.
If you are planning an event for Older Peoples Day on the 1st October or within the month of October, please let the group know, so it can help you to promote and market through its networks. The group also wants to know how successful each event is, so that it can continue to support future initiatives.
