Partnership opportunity with Jobcentre Plus in North East Yorkshire and the Humber District
Jobcentre Plus wants to work together with partners to improve the job prospects for people and communities facing the most complex obstacles to employment. This will focus on: addressing barriers to work improving prospects of future employment.
Location: All areas within North East Yorkshire & the Humber
Closing date for applications: Assessment panels will meet on a monthly basis. The closing date for each panel period is 2.00pm on the last Friday of the month.
Details of the partnership opportunity: Jobcentre Plus is in a position to consider awarding grants, not exceeding £10,000, to ‘not for profit’ organisations, to support activities which align with the Department’s objectives of improving employment outcomes and removing barriers to work.
We expect community benefit by helping the participants become productive positive members of the community.
We want to work together with partners to deliver a service to claimants facing the most complex and intractable barriers to employment. We want support for claimants who may be either on Jobseeker’s Allowance (pre Work Programme), Incapacity Benefit or Employment Support Allowance (work related activity group). Included in the above are 16-17 year olds claiming benefit. It is anticipated the 16-17 year old group would make up no more than 20% of the total number of people supported through the opportunity.
We will need to see evidence that a process is in place to identify claimants pre work programme, and that only eligible Jobcentre Plus claimants are engaged.
Solutions should be creative, innovative, not duplicate existing provision readily available to Jobcentre Plus customers and achieve sustainable job outcomes.
Grants will be made available for opportunities which provide the greatest chance of securing sustainable employment for the customer group stated.
Solutions to address customer needs may include:
- Support to improve motivation, confidence and self esteem in order to improve employability.

- Support to address basic skills barriers
- Personal support to develop the individual’s interpersonal skills and work ethic
- Life skills or occupational training where necessary
