Safeguarding Adults:

Change of Venue for Safeguarding training

We have just been advised of proposed changes to parking arrangements at Brunswick House, Hull being introduced by Hull City Council with effect from 9 January 2012.

This is being imposed following the abuse of the car parking available by users parking and walking into Hull to avoid parking charges.

This has given us cause to consider the implications of our continued use of Brunswick House for the Boards training sessions from 2012, as this will also affect the Board’s team members alike.

The effect of the Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act is to introduce parking charges between 8.30 and 18.00 hrs Monday to Friday. (see note below)This would effectively impose a minimum £2.70 parking charge (up to 3 hour continuous parking) for anyone attending a Basic Awareness training session. The new Practitioner training being introduced will be a full day session – and this would be charged at £6.60 per day (more than 5 hours continuous parking).

In light of this, and although delegates at many other venues would still be faced with parking charges – we are to trial using the Board’s new premises at Priory Park East.

The training rooms are extremely suitable. There are limited car parking spaces allocated for the use of Unit 1, but there is sufficient road side parking available.

A No 57 bus stops in Summergroves Way which backs onto Priory Park, there is a walk through to Henry Boot Way and Bridge View is a 10 minute walk away.

I appreciate that travelling to Hessle will mean additional travelling for some, but in the circumstances we feel this is the best option at present. It may be that some parking concessions or arrangements may be made available at Brunswick House, but at present this has not been confirmed.

(NOTE: Should anyone wish to raise their objections to the proposed order, should send in writing, stating grounds for the objection, to Legal Services at Kingston upon Hull City Council, The Guildhall, Hull HU1 2AA (ref: JG/66302/17) by 3.00pm Friday 2 December 2011).
