Fees for Enhanced CRB Checks
As a result of recent Government changes to the Vetting & Barring Scheme (VBS):
the cost of an enhanced CRB check needs to increase by £8 from 6th April 2011. All other fees will remain unchanged.
It is acknowledged by the CRB that this will not be welcome news in the current climate and budgets may have already been set for the coming financial year. This increase and timing is, however, linked directly to the Government's recent decision to scale back the VBS to more common sense levels and the resulting cancellation of the requirement to register with the Scheme. This increase, which is significantly lower than the intended registration fee of £64, will fund the administration costs of the retained elements of the Scheme.
From 6th April 2011, the following levels will apply throughout the remainder of 2011/12:
Enhanced CRB check £44
Standard CRB check £26
CRB checks for volunteers will continue to be free of change
