Hull Safeguarding Children Board Website – Recent Additions

The following documents and links have recently been placed on the HSCB website:

HSCB Business Plan 2011-13 The Plan sets out the Board’s agreed five key strategic priorities for the next period and includes a short-term action plan. 

Child Death Overview Panel Annual Report 2010/11 This report summarises the work of the Panel during 2010/11, including a statistical analysis of the local child deaths both occurring during the period and those reviewed by the Panel

Young Witness Service Annual Reports 2010/11 There are individual (statistical) reports for each of the four (Humberside) areas and one combined report. The reports contain statistical information about the numbers of young victims and witnesses referred to and supported by the service during the year.

Section 11 Audit – Guidance, Toolkit and Action Plan  All local partners with safeguarding duties under Section 11, Children Act 2004 are currently completing a self-assessment audit of their compliance with the various standards.

Thresholds Guidance The HSCB’s agreed ‘Thresholds of Need’ Guidance is now available 

Child Protection Policy and Procedure Template The HSCB ‘model’ CP Policy and Procedure Template has been recently updated and is available via the link below for services and providers to use to develop their own bespoke policies. The HSCB offers support in developing acceptable policies, which can be endorsed by the Board.

Child Sexual Exploitation The Department for Education has recently issued its new ‘Tackling Child Sexual Exploitation Action Plan’, which sets out expected ‘best practice’ for local safeguarding boards and partners in safeguarding children from sexual exploitation.

HSCB Membership The current HSCB membership has been updated to reflect recent new additions to the Board, including the appointment of the Board’s first two Lay Members.

‘Safeguarding Children Across Services: Messages from Research on Identifying and Responding to Child Maltreatment’  A link has been added to this recently published paper which provides a succinct of 15 research projects, highlighting the main implications for professionals and policy makers involved in safeguarding children.

Free Parental Substance Misuse E-Learning Resource. The resource is available from the Social Care Institute for Excellence website. It has been designed to help practitioners working with families where a parent or parents are misusing drugs or alcohol. Click on the link to access the SCIE site and then click on the ‘E-Learning Resources’ tab to access the resource.

Children’s Social Work Matters – Yorkshire and the Humber. A link to the Children’s Social Work Matters web-site has been added to the home page of the HSCB web-site
