Training:
Youth Mental Health First Aid – East Riding of Yorkshire
Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is a new national two-day course aimed at people working or living with young people (aged 11-18) who may be experiencing mental ill-health. Community Links will be delivering this Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training (for details, see www.mentalhealthfirstaidyorksandhumber.org) and are one of the first providers of this course in the country.
Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches people how to recognise, and respond appropriately to, signs of mental ill-health in young people. It does not teach participants how to be therapists but it does teach them what to say and do if they are faced with a situation where a young person is in distress.
This training is FREE and is subsidised by the Public Health Directorate, NHS East Riding of Yorkshire, and the Big Lottery. Due to the nature of the funding preference will be given to people working/living in the Haltemprice Locality.
The course is delivered by an accredited MHFA instructor to a group of up to 15 participants. Course materials and refreshments will be provided.
