Will you take part in their Sleep Easy event to raise awareness of homelessness issues and valuable funds to support local Charities?
One night out can make a lifetime of difference!!
YMCA Humber is calling on local people to come together and sleep rough for one night to support local, homeless young people.
YMCA Humber’s Sleep Easy event will take place on Friday 2nd February 2018 and see donors sleep out for one night to raise awareness of the hundreds of young people who sleep rough every year as well as raise funds to help YMCA Humber continue to support residents and young people in their services.
This year’s event in Grimsby will take place at Freshney Place and will run from 6pm to 6am on Friday 2nd February 2018. YMCA Humber are encouraging charities who work with a similar client group to join them on the night and raise money to support their own services.
YMCA Humber has hosted Sleep Easy nights since 2010 and has raised £125,000 in that time. Money brought in has helped YMCA and Partners to provide vital services for homeless people in North East Lincolnshire and help them move forward in their lives.
YMCA Humber works with hundreds of young people each year, providing supported accommodation, therapeutic services, educational support and community based activities for young people, adults and families across the region.
This year they are hoping to raise £20,000 to support local Charities in the region and are hoping to attract a record number of participants to the Grimsby event. Come and join them!!
Homelessness is a significant problem affecting in the region of 400,000 people nationally and 2,000 across the Humber region.
The vast majority of homeless people are not rough sleepers and most of them will be found sofa surfing, squatting, living in hostels or B&Bs.
It is a problem that is unlikely to go away in the foreseeable future, which is why this campaign is as important as ever.
YMCA Humber are calling on the local community, old and young, to sign up to the Sleep Easy to help support young people today and into the future.
